About insulation tiers: most CHI doors come non-insulated, vinyl-back polystyrene (about R-8), two-sided polystyrene (about R-10), or two-sided polyurethane (R-13 to R-18). Same look from the driveway, very different door. Attached garage next to living space? Go polyurethane.

We walk through which one makes sense for your garage during the estimate.

CHI FAQ

Why is CHI your primary door?

Ten years of hanging them. CHI doors arrive square, the hardware fits, the paint holds, and the warranty is a limited lifetime on the sections. They're built in Arthur, Illinois from Nucor steel with over 65 percent recycled content. It's the door we keep in stock because it's the door we trust.

Which CHI doors do you have in stock?

Raised Panel in white or almond with limited black, Stamped Carriage House in white, and Skyline Flush in white or black in a limited set of sizes. Those install within the week in most cases. Everything else on this page — other colors, woodtones, overlays, glass — is a special order, typically 4 to 7 weeks. The garage doors page has the in-stock lineup.

What's the difference between the insulation tiers?

Non-insulated is a single steel skin: lightest and lowest cost, fine for a detached garage. Vinyl-back polystyrene adds foam and a vinyl interior, around R-8. Two-sided polystyrene adds a steel back, around R-10. Two-sided polyurethane is the top tier, R-13 to R-18 depending on the door: quietest, stiffest, warmest. For an attached garage with living space next to it or above it, we recommend polyurethane. We walk through which one makes sense during the estimate.

Can I get a CHI door in a custom color?

Yes. Most CHI doors come in 8 to 12 standard colors plus 188 powder coat colors, and the Accents Woodtones on the two-sided models. Powder coat adds about a week to the lead time. Bring a paint chip or a color code to the consultation.

Do you handle HOA approval?

No — you do, and we make it easy. We don't contact your HOA; that relationship is yours. We give you the spec sheet, door image, color and material information for their form. You submit it, they approve it, and we schedule the install once you have approval in hand.

How much does a CHI garage door cost installed?

It depends on the model, the insulation tier, the size, and the finish. A non-insulated raised panel and a real-wood overlay carriage house are very different doors. Use Build & Price for an installed range on the door you're considering, or call for an on-site consultation and an exact number.
Dustin Cantu, owner of Generational Garage Doors

Every Door We Sell, We Install Ourselves.

Ten years of CHI doors. I know which models fight you on a low-headroom install, which colors show dust, and which insulation tier is worth the money for a Contra Costa summer. The owner measures, the owner hangs it. No subcontractors, no franchise crews.
